Effort: Easy - no sewing required Materials:
2 pieces of oak tag (heavy-duty white cardboard paper available at most office supply stores) Red, black and yellow magic markers Scissors Black ribbon A deck of cards A hole punch A crown Black turtleneck Black pants Black shoes White gloves
Instructions: The size of your child will determine how big you want to make your 2 cards - average 1 to 2 feet in width and 2 to 3 feet in length. Cut 2 pieces of oak tag the same size. Decorate each card by copying the details and image of the king of hearts from any standard deck of cards. Punch two holes in the top of each card at the level of the child’s shoulder blades. Tie ribbon from one hole to the other so that card can hang off the shoulders like a jumper. You can also punch holes at waist level and tie ribbon around the waist area for a less floppy look. Don’t forget the crown! Tips: This costume idea can be easily adapted for any card in the deck, as well as for a baseball or M&M costume, for example. You are limited only by your imagination and artistic talents! It’s also easy to have partners in costumes with the same theme, like the Queen of Hearts. More Costume Ideas
