Effort: Easy no sewing required Materials:
Vinyl (flannel-backed) orange tablecloth 70" round Hoop skirt Orange or black pants Black permanent magic marker Scissors Orange hunter’s cap Orange earmuffs (if it’s cold outside) Orange poster board Cardboard for support Metal or wooden rod for sign Duct tape Stapler Black makeup
Instructions: Find the center of the tablecloth. Cut a hole just large enough to get your child’s head through, making it as small as possible. To finish off the “top,” use the marker and draw tire marks across the “chest” of the tablecloth. (If you really want an authentic costume, take the tablecloth outside and run over it once, then use the marker to darken the tire tread marks.) You can also cut slits for the arms. (Keep them small!) Make a “construction sign” by folding the poster board in half and attaching it to the rod using the duct tape. (Staple the edges of the poster board.) Write “End Construction” on both sides with the marker. Your child can carry the sign. Stuff a little newspaper in the cap, if it is the stretchable type, to make a point. If your child wants, draw a black eye and bruises on her face. (She has been run over you know…) Put on the hoop skirt, but tie it around your child’s neck. Adjust as needed. Put the tablecloth and the rest of the garb on your child. More Costume Ideas
