That new brake is a big deal for anyone who recalls that back in September, the popular stroller brand announced a recall of the Ridge after a report of a rear disc brake amputating the fingertip of a non-occupant child. Around 14,400 strollers manufactured between June 2021 and August 2022 were recalled. We’re so relieved that Uppababy has since released an updated version of this jogging stroller (and has been able to fix the strollers people already purchased). Though we tested the original model, the only difference in the updated stroller is the new rear disc brake design. We refrained from recommending the Ridge until this fix was in place.) It was “a dream” to assemble, with testers simply needing to pop in the wheels and lock the stroller into place. Testers were impressed that the stroller folded easily with the push of a button and a twist of the handlebar. When folded, it stands upright for convenient, compact storage. In terms of maneuverability, the stroller “drove nicely” with the front wheel locked and unlocked, according to our tester, who appreciated the visual indicator that shows when the wheel is locked. She also noted that she “didn’t have much trouble turning or maneuvering around obstacles,” which was a challenge with some of the other jogging strollers we tested. This stroller shined in the design category with its appealing look and thoughtful features. Storage space is a must for toting around your kid’s gear, so testers appreciated the spacious cargo hold, which easily fit a diaper bag. The handlebar has an ergonomic grip and adjusts to four heights to best fit the caregiver, who can also take advantage of the attached mesh cupholder and the zippered pocket in the canopy for their phone. This stroller also has a hand brake, two pedals to engage and disengage the foot brake, and a detachable UPF 50+ canopy with a mesh peekaboo window. For safety, there’s a wrist strap attached to the handlebar and a five-point non-rethread harness to keep your kiddo secure. While our tester liked the reclining seat, she did note that the seat could use more padding. She also wished that the jogging stroller came with a bumper bar and snack tray for added safety and convenience. (A compatible Uppababy bumper bar and snack tray are each sold separately.) At $600, this is priced similarly to several of our other favorite jogging strollers, including the Guava Family Roam Crossover Stroller and the Thule Urban Glide 2 Jogging Stroller. If you’re in the market for a high-quality, well-designed jogging stroller, the updated Uppababy Ridge is a great option.
